Yeah, the 2012 Vodacom Durban July's long forgotten, but I am still madly in love with this dress. 100% paper, with aluminium foil details on the waist and detachable neck piece. Judaine wanted to go with a soft, baby blue. Sinni's ego 'gently persuaded him' to go bolder! The result was perfect 'ombreic' balance.
The creative genius behind the dress, Durban-based Judaine Naidoo. Another one of his designs won "Best Dressed". His label is J_Tensity, but Twitter still calls him T_Tensity :)
I was working at the Bloom marquee (a Durban based marketing company) all day, so I missed out on a few photo opportunities. But Buhle Mbonambi came through for The Sunday Tribune. Honestly, I was having so much fun, it didn't feel like work! And the way those ladies screamed for Zakes Batwini (he does have an amazing stage presence, and boy can shake it, damn!) and DJ SPHEctacular (decadent dark chocolate, according to the MC, but you didn't hear that from me ;) )
An amazing day.
PS: J_Tensity spent all night making me a second dress, and despite my phone's mood swings, here it is!
